Populus tremuloides - Quaking aspen
Attractive tree that is best grown in cool, moist well-drained soils with full sun. Quaking aspen has triangular leaves that flutter in the wind. Can tolerate a wide range of soil conditions from rocky, to sandy to clay. Deep green spring leaves turn dark green in the fall. Dioecious plant with flowers in late May followed by drooping fruit clusters. Young trees have greenish white bark that turns chalks white as it matures.
