A clump-forming perennial wildflower which typically grows 2-3' tall and slowly spreads by thick rhizomes, often forming large colonies in the wild. The foliage resembles those found on Solomon's Seal, however, the flowers on each are different. In addition, False Solomon's Seal flowers appear at the end of the arching stems. The flowers are followed by clusters of small rounded berries, each containing a few seeds. They turn from green to red or red and purple-marked when they ripen in late summer or fall
