Hamamelis virginiana - Common witch hazel

This deciduous shrub and small tree can grow very tall and wide. Between October and December, plant produces clusters of fragrant bright yellow flowers with distinct ribbon shaped petals. If flower is fertilized, it will proceed to form fruit throughout Winter and into Spring. Can be easily grown in well-drained soils and does very well in full sun. 

This plant has historically been used to relieve swelling, bleeding, itching, and skin irritations.
