Coming from the buttercup family, has shiny yellow flowers when in bloom, which attract butterflies and other pollinators. Grows best in shallow water, water gardens, and wet, boggy soil. Parts of plant can be cooked and eaten, though never raw. Flower buds can be cooked and pickled in vinegar while young leaves can be boiled and eaten as greens.
