Morphology/Growth habits: Perennial wildflower in the buttercup family. Beautiful white blooms that rise above their leaves in spring and last many weeks. 3-lobed leaves also add beautiful variety to the foliage in your garden. Clump-forming with erect stems. Spreads by rhizomes, but not as much as other members of the Anemone genus.

Habitat/Best Environments: Occurs in woodlands, water edges, and forest edges. Prefers rich soils with medium moisture and can grow in a variety of light conditions, making it a resilient addition to your garden. 

Ecological relationships: The pappus (fluff) on their seeds is used by hummingbirds for their nests. Resistant to deer and rabbits.

*Toxic to humans when ingested in large quantities. Fresh sap from the plant may cause skin irritation or gastrointestinal issues if ingested. 

Fun fact: Their seedheads are elongated and resemble thimbles, hence the common name!
