Amorpha canescens - Lead Plant

Resilient shrub that can tolerate a variety of soil conditions, but grows best in sandier, somewhat drier soils. Small purple flowers bloom in the summer in spectacular towers with bright orange stamens, creating a beautiful contrasted color combination. Short hairs covering the leaves give the foliage a gray appearance, hence the name 'Lead Plant'. 

This flowers attract a wide range of pollinators, making this a versatile option for a pollinator/urban garden. Host plant for dogface butterflies!
