This perennial has wiry, wand-like stems, narrow foliage, and delicate white flowers that turn pink. Clump-forming. It blooms in summer until first frost, with only a few flowers opening at a time. Deadheading further prolongs bloom period. Self-seeding.
This plant's taproot gives it high heat, humidity, and drought tolerance. It thrives in sandy, well-draining soil with full sun. The slender stems may flop over—plant densely and near supporting perennials to prevent this. Larval host for white-lined sphinx moth.
