Morphology/Growth Habits: A resilient, 1-2 ft. perennial with delicate, dark-green leaves divided into thread-like segments. The long-blooming flower heads have yellow centers and untoothed petals.grows in dense bushy clumps, and blooms in early summer. Heights of stems are staggered so flowers bloom at varying levels. Clumps will spread by rhizomes and can be divided every 2-3 years. It will also self-seed. Shearing the plant after blooming will sometimes produce fall flowers. Previously known as Coreopsis verticillata but has since been reclassified.

Ecological relationships: Nectar is enjoyed by many pollinators, including bees and butterflies. Birds feed on its seeds in the fall. Larval host for Silvery Checkerspot caterpillar.
