Asclepias tuberosa - Butterfly plant
Asclepias tuberosa is a breathtaking perennial with clumps of small vibrant orange flowers that attracts pollinators of all kinds. It is low to the ground and a great source for Monarch butterfly larvae.
Easy to grow and self-seed, drought tolerant, slow to establish. It does not transplant well due to tap root.
"A decoction or infusion of roots has been used to promote perspiration and expectoration in diseases of the lungs. Leaves served as an emetic." - Cornell University Botanical Gardens
